“India’s sports infrastructure and funding are at par with the countries performing well on the global stage. Winning medals in the Olympics is not a one-year or six-month job. Gagan Narang, Pullela Gopichand, Viren Rasquinha, Aparna Popat, Dr. Satyapal Singh, Prashanti Singh, Gayatri Madkekar, Kamlesh Mehta, Cyrus Poncha, Deepthi Bopaiah, Siddharth Shanker, Manisha Malhotra, Gautam Vadehra, Prem Lochab were among the few who attended the meeting as sports persons, coaches and administrators across the sports spectrum in the country came together to put forth their ideas along with the officials of Sports Ministry and the Sports Authority of India (SAI).

The Secretary of the Sports Ministry, Sujata Chaturvedi, introduced the members of the newly constituted Mission Olympic Cell and the newly appointed CEO of the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), Nachhatar Singh Johal.
