Indonesian president Joko Widodo has instructed officials to bid to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games in the yet-to-be-built city of Nusantara, according to the country’s youth affairs and sports minister.
Zainudin Amali said Widodo “gave an instruction” to bid for the event last week. Indonesia unsuccessfully attempted to secure the hosting rights to the 2032 Olympics, which are destined for Brisbane, last year.
