Adventure Sports and Recreation activities play an important role in the overall development of sports and allied sectors. India provides a huge opportunity to explore and expand newer activities in all kinds of adventure sports, throughout the year, whether it is in land, air or water. India has a wealth of mountain ranges, gigantic sea shores and massive deserts in addition to natural lakes and round the year flowing rivers, which provide various opportunities of Recreation and Adventure sports. These opportunities are for all age groups and can attract domestic and international participants provided, they are channelised through proper policy intervention and professionalised services.
Some of the areas, which are to be developed along with other sports adventures are Motor Sports, Reality Shows on the adventures themes, over-land marathons, aero sports, skydiving, wind surfing and water skiing. Similarly, Winter Olympic sports also needs to be encouraged in a systematic manner, which cannot be done without the support and integration of states and central government directive and policies.
