Bastar Olympics 2024: The multi-sport event, announced by the Chattisgarh state government, aims to bridge the gap between the youth of Bastar and mainstream development, spotlighting local sports talent.
In a first, ‘Bastar Olympics’ – a multi-sport competition — will be organised by the Chhattisgarh state government, specifically for the tribal youth of the region. The event, commencing from November 5 to 10, aims to bridge the gap between the youth of Bastar and mainstream development, spotlighting local sports talent.
So far, registration figures have crossed the one-lakh mark. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai proudly stated, “Excitement can be seen among the youth, with a staggering 165,000 young people enlisting to participate in the games. This widespread engagement underscores the local population’s eagerness to connect with developmental initiatives and foster a peaceful environment.”
The Bastar Olympics 2024 logo and mascot have been thoughtfully designed to resonate with Bastar’s rich cultural heritage. The logo features the traditional musical instrument ‘Turhi’, flanked by sports symbols, encapsulating a blend of tradition and modernity. The slogan ‘Karsay ta Bastar Barsay ta Bastar’, meaning ‘Bastar will play, Bastar will grow’, reflects local aspirations.
The mascot creatively represents the Forest Buffalo and Hill Myna, embodying the state’s fauna while promoting wildlife conservation.
