The Confederation of Sports and Recreation Industry (CSRI) is the only Apex Industry Association and business entity in India, which deals in sports and also connects the complete eco-system of the sports Sector i.e. Sports, Physical Education, Fitness and Leisure. It is a voice of Indian Sports and Recreation Industry, which promotes economic activities around the concerned sectors and also aggregates the views of different experts for influencing policy change through engaging and involving policymakers and the sports fraternity.
It is the belief of CSRI, that there is huge business opportunity in and around the Sports and Recreation sectors. The need of the hour, is to convert the untapped areas of sporting activities into self sustaining economic ventures and thereby, creating a dynamic sports industry. The world over, it is a multi-billion dollar industry propelled by gigantic demand. CSRI believes that there are many ventures around the sports and recreation industry but all operating in silos. There is a need to link the unconnected dots and present a holistic view before the market and policy makers for an optimal outcome.
CSRI also believes in aggregating this unorganised market in an organised manner in order to highlight and tap the hidden and latent demand. There are various indispensable industries within the sports, physical education, fitness and leisure sectors, which need to be aggregated through various parallel initiatives like Sports Law and Arbitration; Sports Infrastructure and Maintenance; Capacity Building and Skill Development for creating sports experts and generating gainful employment; Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sponsorship for sports financing; and also incorporating the advantage of new areas like Sports Betting and Lottery; last but not least Business of Adventure and Winter Sports. In the domain of Adventure and Winter sports, it is necessary to explore newer destinations for air, water and land based activities and events.
CSRI believes that most of these activities and businesses cannot be developed without proactive policy actions and initiatives at the national level. Similarly, it is necessary to highlight various policy impediments and obstacles in organising events both at the Central and in State levels.
