he Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced a partnership with the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI) on Monday. This collaboration comes as India prepares to host the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup, scheduled from January 13 to 19 at the IGI Stadium.
The IOA expressed its full support for the event and its commitment to promoting indigenous sports like Kho Kho. IOA President PT Usha conveyed this commitment in a statement to KKFI chief Sudhanshu Mittal.

“We recognise the significance of this event in celebrating our cultural heritage and promoting traditional sports, and we look forward to collaborating with Kho Kho Federation of India to ensure the success of the tournament.”
“Together, we aim to make this event memorable and impactful, encouraging the spirit of sportsmanship among participants and fostering a deeper appreciation for Kho Kho worldwide.”

Mittal believes the partnership between the IOA and KKFI will significantly boost the sport’s profile. He sees the IOA’s backing as crucial to bringing Kho Kho to global attention.

“The support of the IOA, led by President PT Usha, is a game-changer for Kho Kho. This collaboration is pivotal in putting Kho Kho on the global map, and we’re thrilled to be hosting the first-ever Kho Kho World Cup, a truly historic event for the sport,” Mittal said.

The World Cup will feature both men’s and women’s teams, with representation from six continents. A total of 24 countries are expected to participate in the tournament.

Teams from Asia, including India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, will compete against teams from Africa, Europe, North America, South America, and Oceania.
The diverse lineup of participating nations includes Ghana, Kenya, England, Germany, Brazil, and Australia, highlighting the global reach of the sport.
